What is the white substance on my Crimsafe

Crimsafe Security Screens and Doors are designed to keep your home safe from intruders. But what is that white fluff substance that sometimes builds up on them and looks unruly? The typical culprit in this situation is salt and moisture and an accumulation of dirt and dust. While moisture and impurities in the air result in reddish marks, salt will appear as a fluffy white substance. The severity of the issue will depend on your proximity to the ocean.

All Crimsafe products can withstand the 3,000-hour test of alternating salt spray and dry cycles, equivalent to 30 years of environmental exposure. While this may not impact the function of your screen, it can be unsightly. Luckily, there is an easy way to clean your Crimsafe and remove the salt buildup.

Because all screens accumulate dirt and pollutants over time, it’s critical to clean them on a regular basis to avoid staining and buildup. Keeping your Crimsafe clean prevents dirt, grime, and salt from accumulating, lowering the likelihood of corrosion.

The frame of Crimsafe Security Screens and Doors is powder-coated and therefore more resistant to diminished coating quality as a result of impact, moisture, chemicals and extreme weather conditions.  In turn, this reduces the risk of scratches, chipping, corrosion and fading.

However, it won’t be able to stop the deterioration of your Crimsafe without your help.

How do I clean the white substance off my Crimsafe?

Getting rid of dust, dirt and grime through regular maintenance is essential!

The easiest and simplest way to clean your Crimsafe is to clean the frames and mesh with Crimsafe Wash and Wax or regular car wash. Use warm water and a soft, non-abrasive brush to remove the salt build up.  Then wipe down with clean water.
